Feels so good to be here.
Hi, hello 👋🏾
I can’t casually slide in here and not acknowledge how this Braised Short Rib recipe was supposed to go live monthsss ago. But hey… that’s just how life goes. I fully thought I could handle running my food page while working a new full time job. When reality comes and slaps you in the face you just accept that you need to sit tf down! But i’m back. Like back back, kinda fully active but i’m back because this is truly what makes anything worth it for me.
There are 300+ beautiful people subscribed to this newsletter and I must say every single one of you hold a special place in my heart. Some of y’all are here for the recipes. Some of y’all are here to get to know more about me and some of y’all are here because i forced you to subscribe. Shoutout to my lucky friends 😂
Life comes at you fast
I can’t believe I missed an entire FEBRUARY, MARCH, APRIL, MAY and JUNE post. It makes me a little sad because this Newsletter was originally meant to serve as an outlet for me. Imagine how i’ve been coping not being able to use this outlet over the last few months.
I *kind of* have a good excuse for why I’ve been gone so long. Your girl got a new job!! That’s right I’m fully in the corporate world. Working that 9-5 (+ that extra hour when the workload kinda crazy). I have to be very open and honest I knew this job was going to be hard but I really thought I was a superhuman and would be able to handle both responsibilities of creating content consistently and working full time. Boy was I wrong. The way February was beating my ass but still ended as an amazing month? The power of God… I can’t even put in words how he has completely changed my perspective on life. To deviate a little though, I am now looking for new opportunities to help immerse myself into this life of food. I would love to fully go into becoming a private chef, that type of work gives me so much peace, cues Peace by AZANTI.
Keep it pushing
I’ve been doing the work yo… this time last year was when I started seeing numbers grow before my eyes with content I was posting with no actual plan. Life was so uncertain but I persevered and a whole year later I’m doing my thing for real and life is going hard right now. It’s July and more than ever I see clearly that this trajectory i’m on is going to be a crazy one. Simply from looking at how i’ve accomplished a lot of things this year. It has been nothing short of amazing, and I would do it all over again.
I’m refraining from making this a long one but bear with me. I’m making a promise to myself, that I will start investing more time into things that give me joy like writing this newsletter and updating you guys monthly on my ‘crazy’ life. I’ve had so many moments that were worth sharing but could never make the time to sit down and narrate them. I have some juicy details to share in the next post but I need to know you guys are reading these. Drop a <3 in the comments so I can feel the love from y’all.

Braised Short Rib Ramen
Now for what you all have been subscribed for months for… the ultimate ramen recipe. The inspiration for this recipe came from a collaboration I had months ago with a Bone Broth company - Kettle & Fire. I had to come up with a recipe that would highlight using their broth to elevate a dish and this was what came to mind instantly. I rocked it in my first try so I was determined to share this one with you guys. Now months later, I have something tangible for you guys. This recipe is quite easy and such low effort might I add. Let me know how you like it. Share pictures, feedback, everything. I love hearing from you.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: ~ 3 1/2 hours
Total Time: ~ 4 hours
Serving size: 4 - 6 bowls
Ingredients
Remember to season to your hearts desires, these are all estimates!
2 boxes kettle and fire beef bone broth
Dan O’s original seasoning or any all purpose seasoning
Dan O’s spicy seasoning (optional)
1 tbsp olive oil
2 boxes beef bone broth
2lbs beef short ribs
6 garlic cloves
1 inch minced ginger
1 tsp red pepper flakes
2 cups bone broth (you might need more)
1/2 cup Tamari (or soy sauce)
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
1/2 cup Shaoxing wine
1 tbsp chili garlic paste
1/4 cup fresh squeeze orange juice
2 stalks lemon grass
1/4 cup sliced green onion
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 packs Egg ramen noodles (I used Trader Joes Knife cut noodles)
3 eggs
Crispy fried shallots, for garnish
Green onions, for garnish
Video Tutorial linked here.
Directions
Wash short ribs thoroughly with vinegar and lemons. Then pat the short ribs dry.
Season ribs on all 4 sides with any multipurpose seasoning of your choice.
Heat a Dutch oven, add olive oil. Once heated, sear short ribs on all sides till you get a golden brown crust on all sides.
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Take the short ribs out of the pan and reduce the heat to low-medium
Sauté the chopped garlic and green onions.
Add red pepper flakes, chili garlic paste, tamari, Shaoxing wine, lemon grass, orange juice, and brown sugar.
Mix to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add the short ribs back to the pot.
Pour 24 oz of bone broth to the pot.
Braise short ribs in the oven for 2 1/2 hours or until they’re falling off the bone.
Check short ribs mid- braise to make sure more liquid is not needed!
Strain braising liquid or use an immersion blender to blitz the little bits.
Boil noodles according to package instructions using strained broth from the ramen. I got this suggestion from a supporter and it was definitely game changing.
Add eggs to boiling water and boil for 5 minutes. Leave eggs in boiling water for 2 more minutes.
Slice green onions
Shred short ribs
Assemble your ramen bowl.
Completely optional but I would do an asian style pickle with carrots and cucumbers to add a bit of flair.
Serve hot with a nice bottle of pear soju.
If you made it this far and haven’t shared this with a friend, WYD??
